The Autism Society Greater Hudson Region promotes the active and informed involvement of autistic individuals and their family members in the planning of individualized, appropriate services and support since 2007. ASGHR believes that each person with autism is a unique individual. Each individual with autism and their families should have the right to learn about and then select the options that they feel are most appropriate for the individual with autism. To the maximum extent possible, we believe that the decisions should be made by the individual with autism in collaboration with family, guardians, and caregivers as appropriate.
ASGHR is fiscally and legally a wholly independent affiliate of the Autism Society of America (ASA), sharing the name and brand of the “Autism Society of America” with the national organization and approximately 90 affiliates across the country, along with its mission, values, and strategic priorities.
ASGHR provides direct services and supports in the following 21 counties in New York: Albany, Chenango, Columbia, Greene, Delaware, Dutchess, Fulton, Montgomery, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren, Washington, and Westchester.
We strive to promote lifelong access and opportunities for people on the autism spectrum and their families, so they can be fully participating, included members of their communities. We do this through advocacy, public awareness, education, and compassionate support.
